12 Gift Knits of Christmas Day 7: Bulky Garter Cowl

For the 7th Gift Knit, we are featuring our Bulky Garter Cowl. This cowl is more of an inspiration than an actual pattern - Bernadette made it up when we needed a quick way to show off our amazing Illimani Llama II yarn! The garter fabric of the cowl works up quickly, while the loose gauge allows the yarn to drape while also stretching it just that little bit further (this cowl was knit on an 8mm needle, instead of the 6mm that is recommended for the yarn).

This is a very beginner friendly project: cast on 30 stitches, knit until you run out of yarn, and then sew your cast-on and cast-off ends together - with or without a twist in the fabric.  You can make it with almost any yarn you want - although only the Llama II and Super Alpaca will have this same level of softness!

On December 13th and 14th, come into the store and receive 20% off of the yarn needed to make this scarf. Make one as a gift, and another for yourself, and you're sure to be cozy all winter! The discount is limited to two projects per person per day. Needles are not included.
