Share your Crafting Skills at Kits Neighbourhood House's Craft Conversation Circles

Kitsilano Neighbourhood House is a registered non-profit, charity organization dedicated to providing important services and programs to support families, youth, newcomers and seniors on Vancouver’s Westside.  They have asked me to help spread the word about their Craft Conversation Circles, a new program they have developed to help newcomers to Canada practice their English while also learning and sharing their crafting skills.

Volunteer Programmer Julie Reiter has this to say about the circles:

Kits House started volunteer-led Craft Conversation Circles (CCC’s) in response to English language learners asking for more opportunities to practice their English with local residents in a relaxed setting. People can bring their own craft project or use our supplies. Hot drinks and snacks are provided – Freshly baked goods are always welcome.

People have expressed an interest in learning how to knit…So if you have some time or spare supplies, feel free to drop in on Thursday November 22nd, December 6th or 20th between 5-8pm at Point Grey Community Church (7th & Collingwood).

Free – Just drop-in –  Everyone welcome (kids, too!) –  All levels of English – All craft levels

This sounds like a great way to help out in the community, while also sharing your knitting or crochet skills with other crafters.  I understand that these four sessions are being run as a pilot - if they go well, Kits House will be sure to continue the project after the holidays.

Whine, whine, whine, I wished I lived in Vancouver, not Saskatoon! I love your name, your store looks spot on, the website is wonderful … I grew up on Vancouver Island and wish to live where in fact it does rain, or drizzle as we called it. So here is wishing you the very best with your endeavor and when I get to Vancouver sometime, I’ll drop in and say hello and of course add to my yarn stash!
