Knits With Love is a community based project that was created by local knitter Meredith Kalaman. Meredith is collecting knit and crocheted squares that will be assembled into blankets and donated to groups that support Vancouver's Downtown Eastside Community. You can find out more about this project on the Knits With Love Facebook Page.
The first blanket assembly night was held here at Wet Coast Wools on June 24th. Meredith had collected quite a number of squares and we were able to sew many of them together.
If you want to help out with this project - and help use up your stash while you're at it - you can drop off your 6" squares from now until the end of July. Please label them with the type of yarn used (what fibre? is it machine washable?) as well as your first name and the city you live in. Meredith would love this project to become a world-wide effort, with squares coming in from all over the world.
We will also be hosting another assembly night on Monday July 8th - seaming always takes longer than you think it will, so extra hands are very welcome!
